Overview
Simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing activities for truck engine control systems, combining model development, software validation, and test analysis.
Context
The project involved the development and validation of simulation models for truck engine applications. These models were used to reproduce an entire truck behavior and support the validation of control software on Hardware-in-the-Loop test benches.
Challenge
- Develop representative simulation models for truck engine applications
- Validate model behavior against expected system behavior
- Execute and analyze HIL test scenarios
- Identify discrepancies between expected and measured results
- Investigate the root causes of unexpected behavior
- Ensure reliable and repeatable validation activities
My Contribution
- Developed and maintained Simulink models for truck engine applications
- Implemented and adapted simulation logic according to system requirements
- Performed validation activities on Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches
- Designed and executed test scenarios
- Analyzed test results and identified deviations from expected behavior
- Investigated and fixed discrepancies between simulation and test results
- Contributed to the debugging and validation of the system
Solution
The validation workflow combined model-based simulation with Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
Simulink models were developed and validated to reproduce the expected behavior of the truck engine system. The validated models were then used within HIL test environments to execute realistic test scenarios.
Test results were analyzed by comparing expected and measured system behavior, allowing discrepancies to be identified and investigated.
Results
- Improved confidence in the behavior of the simulation models
- Supported the validation of truck engine control systems
- Identified and investigated discrepancies between expected and actual behavior
- Provided a structured approach to HIL-based system validation
- Contributed to more reliable testing and debugging activities
